Whether you are an introvert or an extrovert, networking is imperative as a business owner and real estate investor. If you lack the motivation, or don’t understand the value of networking, allow me to break down the reasons to network as an investor for you!
Networking for Team Member Introductions
One of the most powerful things about networking is simply the opportunity to connect with someone else’s network.
If you’re looking for a property manager and you go to a networking event, you could find your property manager immediately. Maybe you’ll work with this individual for the next 10 years. You can get the contact information from someone else who has had a great experience with that person, and can tell you a lot about that person, the services they provide, and how well they perform those services.
This can save you tons of time. And I don’t just mean time searching for and interviewing property managers, but also potentially years of time that you might have invested with the wrong property manager. You can access a whole bunch of different team members by tapping into the other people’s network that your networking with.
Networking for Business Hacks and Tips for Success
You can also get some great tips on not only investing, but also running your business, or hiring vendors or contractors, and even scaling. All of these “hacks” and lessons learned that other people have struggled through are a great opportunity for you to cut the learning curve and save you time and potentially heartache.
Networking for Deals!
Lastly, deals! By networking and hanging out with other people in the industry over a beer or coffee, or even a virtual conference or webinar, you have the ability to open yourself up to opportunities. You can connect with real estate agents, or wholesalers, or people that have access to off market deals. Or maybe you’ll get to sit next to somebody who’s offloading their entire portfolio and they’re willing to seller finance it to you.
Those kinds of deals are very hard to come by, and being in the right place at the right time could prove very fruitful! You can make these deals and opportunities happen by expanding your network and sharing with everyone what you’re doing.
So don’t be afraid to get out there, be yourself, make friends, and shake hands! You’re going to attract people that are like you, doing things you want to be doing. You’re going to elevate their game and they’re going to elevate yours. Then, they’re going to start bringing you deals that fit your criteria that align with the things that you are focusing on and with your strategy and we’re all going to make LOTs of money!
